OUR FIRST LADY
First Lady Rose Gordon was born and raised in Newark, NJ to the Late Bishop Heber and Beatrice Brown, Sr. Her parents instilled in her the importance of a personal relationship with God at a very early age. She worked closely with her father in the ministry and served as Secretary for the Freewill Baptist Church Northern B Division for several years.
Lady Gordon often quotes her father’s motto, “ If you put something in, you’ll get something out; if you put something in Life, you’ll get something out.” These words were embedded in her consciousness as she pursued her personal and professional career. She is a graduate of Monmouth University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, and holds two Master degrees in Education, and Educational Leadership. She currently works for the Irvington Board of Education and serves as a Principal in the Irvington Public School District.
Lady Gordon always had a love for children. Prior to becoming a Principal in Irvington, NJ, Lady Gordon served as a teacher for Newark Public Schools for over seven years. She is a former foster parent who raised several children in Essex County, NJ. She tutored students for five years after school at the Newark Public Library’s Homework Club. She is the Founder & Former Director of Achievement Based on Character nonprofit organization. She served as the Director of the Angelic Baptist Church Children’s Ministry for over 10 years.
Currently, she serves as the Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Administrator for Angelic Baptist Church. Lady Gordon carries out her duties with fidelity and integrity. Her unique blend of skills has thoroughly prepared her for the work God has called her to.
Lady Gordon is a supportive wife to her husband, Pastor Sloan Gordon, Jr. and a loving mother to their five children. She is truly dedicated to the work of the ministry.
