Pastor Sloan Gordon, Jr. is a native of Jersey City, New Jersey. His father, Reverend Sloan Gordon, Sr. was the former Pastor of Angelic Baptist Church, which is the oldest African American Church in the city of Bayonne, NJ. His father taught him the basics of Christianity at a very early age. As a son of the church, Reverend Gordon served in several ministries prior to his election as Pastor.
He has always had a very strong work ethic. At the age of twelve, he sold newspapers, worked in a horse staple and became Manager of Monticello House of Shine (shoeshine parlor) After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Military from 1979 – 1985. He studied at the Philadelphia College of the Bible and graduated from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. Humbly, he served as the church sexton, van driver, choir member, trustee and a deacon before being called by God to preach the Gospel in 1988. He was ordained into the Gospel Ministry by the New Hope Missionary Baptist Association in 1995, and then elected to serve as Assistant Pastor of Angelic Baptist Church from 1995- 1999. On August 22, 1999, he preached his first sermon as Senior Pastor of Angelic Baptist Church.
For several years, Pastor Gordon served with distinction as the New Jersey State Overseer of the Praise Covenant Interdenominational Fellowship, under the Honorable Bishop Heber Brown, Jr. Currently, He serves as one of the Pastors of the Greater Highway Deliverance Ministries, under the Honorable Bishop Liston Page, Sr. He is a businessman and an entrepreneur.
Pastor Gordon resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with his loving wife, Rose Gordon, and their five children. He is a preacher and teacher of God’s Word. With twenty-seven years in ministry, and nineteen years as Pastor, he continues to serve with love, devotion, enthusiasm and total commitment to Jesus Christ.
